I struggle with knowing the right things to say when crazy happens in our world.

I ache for all the people who experience the loss of someone they love regardless of the circumstance. Love is love and when a heart is injured like that, I don't know if there is any way to truly make it right. I try to imagine if it was one of my children shot during an encounter with police, or if it was my child who was an officer killed in the line of duty. Would I ever recover from such an event?

There are times I don't comment on the horror that happens in this world because I don't want my words to be misinterpreted or misunderstood. I have read so many passionate posts that have turned into ugly and angry arguments and plenty of broad and sweeping generalizations characterizing people. If I could have one wish granted, it would be the ability to truly see the nature of another person's heart.

For now, all I can do is grieve for the people who died, for the families that lost people they loved, and pray that God will speak to the rest of us on how we can reflect Him and find the unity He meant for us to have from the beginning.
